Abstract
The current study aims to explore anxiety-depression comorbidity in high-risk adolescents, and examine the aggravating effect of lower parental interest in their mental health on suicide attempts. This study utilizes 1,942 cases of data from ¡¯A study on supporting mental health promotion for children and adolescents¡¯, which is conducted by National Youth Policy Institute (NYPI) in 2012. The mainresults are as follws. First, the level of comorbidity was classified into three groups, "low-level comorbidity group (low group) (59.2%, n=1,210)", "midium-level comorbidity group (midium group) (33.5%, n=686)", and "high-level comorbidity group (high group) (7.5%, n=146)". Risk of suicide attempts in midium and high group was each 2.19, 7.82 times higher than low group. Second, as lower parental interest in mental health, the higher the risk of suicide attempts by up to 2.42 times. Third, the risk of suicide attempts by level of comorbidity and parental interest showed minimum 2.53 to maximum 21.51 times compared to theoretical lowest risk group (low group¡¿highest parental interest). Based on results, clinical and political implications were suggested.
